This is Vantage POINT: A monthly moodboard for things that have been on our minds as of late, topics both fresh and familiar. We point you towards what to watch out for and what we think you should be enjoying right now. And if whatever we love becomes whatever you love (at least a little bit), then we’ve done our jobs.
AS MIDTERMS season hits us from all directions, a plethora of new releases follow suit and join the clash. In the short moments of free time you can find, check out some of these recommendations from Vantage. Hopefully, they are as much a reprieve for you as they are for us.

Red Velvet’s The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm
Release: March 21
Disbandment allegations were successfully beaten when Red Velvet announced their upcoming March 21st comeback The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm. While us ReVeluvs (Red Velvet fans) let out a sigh of relief with this release, seeing the gasp-inducing teasers still left us out of breath. Glammed up as dolls and ballerinas, our girls have never looked more ethereal. The apparent magical theme–in addition to the classical instruments and strange creatures in the video teaser–also hint to a possible theatrical concept.
When it comes to this group, we’re never really sure what we will get (We still remember you, “Zimazalabim”)! So the only thing we can really do is prepare to get another taste of Red Velvet. – Jewel

After going online in 2021, this year’s Art Fair Philippines is back on-site at a new location. Though the fair is usually held at a carpark called The Link, the organizers this year chose to hold the event outdoors, embracing the open air of Makati’s Ayala Triangle Gardens.
Besides the roster of exhibitors, the fair continues to pursue its past programs while exploring new ones such as the AR art trail. I’m excited (and anxious) to see how the organizers are going to pull this off. Since the fair is a major event in the local art world, how the 10 days go by could be informative of possible trajectories and setups for the year. While exhibitors are there to sell art, there’s still a lot to do and see for all kinds of visitors. – Ryan

Release: April 9
The highly-anticipated anime of the popular shōnen manga SPY x FAMILY by Tatsuya Endo is almost here. On April 9, fans and other curious viewers will be able to see this weird, fun, and deadly family in action.
I don’t usually read manga, but this is one of the few that caught my attention. Recently though, school has been so hectic that I haven’t picked it up in a while. I hope that this new release becomes both a refresher and door to new details that I missed before. Plus, I can’t wait to hear the full version of the opening and ending themes teased in the preview released by TOHO Animation, the anime’s producer. – Ryan
The Lost City (2022) dir. Aaron Nee, Adam Nee
Release: March 25
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star as Loretta Sage and Alan in The Lost City, in a film told in an eccentric, upbeat tone. The movie, which also stars Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt, adds a hint of flavor to Channing Tatum’s filmography, and lighter tones to Sandra Bullock’s set of serious roles.
Sandra Bullock is known for her roles as different types of leaders in films—the most stark examples of these are her strong female characters in movies like Ocean’s 8 (2018), Miss Congeniality (2000), Bird Box (2018), and The Proposal (2009). With her appearance in this film, it will be a breath of fresh air to see Sandra Bullock as the fictional damsel in distress for once. This goes especially for me, a girl who has lately been getting tired of the strong-independent-woman trope more often than not. – Ylia

After catapulting himself into the limelight of Latin artists, Omar Apollo is ready to return with a full-length album named Ivory. His melodic takes on the frustration of being young, and the frustrating back-and-forth direction of unspoken feelings add a distinct touch to his music.
I am looking forward to 16 songs from him, three of which are already out and will be part of this EP. I haven’t stopped listening to “So Good” since it came out, as his music is embedded with inspiration from 80s funk sound, which I’m personally a loyalist of. With Ivory, we know that Apollo is, yet again, about to translate notes from groovy, older melodies into mellow, modern-day hits. – Ylia

Pinoy Pop Convention (P-Pop Con)

Get ready to hear the voices of P-pop on one stage! For those drawn into the P-pop explosion, the upcoming Pinoy Pop Convention (P-Pop Con) may just be the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see all of your faves. The two-day convention set from April 9 to 10 could possibly be one of the biggest Pinoy pop events to happen in recent times. Groups like SB19, BINI, BGYO, MNL48, and many more are expected to make an appearance.
If I lived anywhere near Quezon City, I’d probably buy out all the VIP tickets just to see my babies, BINI and KAIA. P-pop enthusiasts, don’t miss the chance to see your ultimate groups (before I fly there and purchase all the tickets myself)! – Jewel
