daylist • hot tropical summer morning

WHETHER YOU’RE strolling along vibrant coastal towns, partying all night with your besties, or going through a fleeting summer fling, a summer getaway won’t be complete without a banging playlist.

From groovy Europop tracks to expressive R&B tunes, Vantage Magazine has prepared a curated selection of recent and classic summer bops for every occasion this season.

“Hot & Sexy” by Zara Larsson

Nothing screams summer quite like the electropop tunes of Zara Larsson’s tracks. Her techno-infused party-ready banger, “Hot & Sexy” is the perfect high-energy tune to blast when driving to a party with friends.

With lyrics focused on female empowerment and self-confidence, the lively track exudes sheer exhilaration. Accompanied by its cheeky, upbeat message, the song emphasizes friendship and self-worth as most evident in its post-chorus mantra— “beautiful, fly, hot, and sexy”—to surely get everyone rocking at any summer function.

“Falling” by Frost Children

Many view summer as a time to settle down and relax, but to the Frost Children, it can also be a wild and gritty experience. This sentiment is expressed in their 2025 standout, “Falling.” Calling back to the early 2010s electropop and EDM boom, the song is an unapologetically in-your-face statement of late-night summer hedonism.

Electric guitars, synths, and computer noises fill the track’s production, while the Frost Children’s earnest vocals complement the rich EDM instrumental. These musical choices come together to make a track so audacious yet still distinctly summer. “Falling” proves that this sweltering time of year isn’t just day trips and sun. It could also mean dancing the night away to nostalgic beats at a party near you!

“Deep Diving” by After

The summer season is ripe for novel experiences and stronger connections. For some, this may include the tension of a budding relationship. This nagging, wanting emotion is explored by rising American pop duo After in their song “Deep Diving.”

Traversing nostalgic 2000s soundscapes and dream pop sensibilities, this song speaks of a blossoming romance being taken to deeper levels. The pair paints the experience as a sensory journey, evoking images of chill pool days and beach trips to convey a love being discovered, making it the perfect song for those intimate downtimes on your vacation.

“HEATWAVE” by Bronze Avery

While views of sun-bleached coasts and palm trees are typical when imagining summer, the heat of the season also pervades the crowded cities we call home. This urban jungle summer is brought to life through a vibrant house beat and groovy vocals in Bronze Avery’s “HEATWAVE.”

Set to a fresh euro-house beat, the song takes listeners on a whirlwind ride of summer moments in the city. The song’s uptempo production is complemented by rich synths and bouncy drum hits. Alongside Avery’s bright, expressive voice, the song makes a bold statement: Summer can still be enjoyed regardless of the environment you’re in.

“DESPECHÁ” by ROSALÍA

With its high-energy mambo and electro-merengue, alongside bouncy Latin pop beats, “DESPECHÁ” is the tropical summer anthem that will surely get your hips moving through its strongly influenced Dominican-style music, featuring a rapid, dance-heavy groove. The track’s infectious rhythm will make you want to drink a refreshing piña colada or two with your besties by the beach, with nothing dragging you down.

The title, which means “spiteful” in English, is expressed through Rosalía’s lyrics, referring to the joys of leaving life’s pressures behind on a wild summer night out. Ultimately, this is what summer is all about: to be wild and free because you earned it.

“Summertime” by FLO

Any good vacation playlist has a spot for a fun banger, and “Summertime” by British girl group FLO deserves its rightful spot in the rotation. This groovy track, reminiscent of early 2000s pop and R&B hits, paints a picture of walking along scenic beachfront towns with your best friends.

Drum hits, guitar strings, claps, and subtle electronic flourishes make up the core of the song. Though restrained at first, these elements come together as the track progresses, making for a smooth, subtle tropical R&B hit. Carrying this straightforward formula are the smooth harmonies of members Jorja, Stella, and Renée as they sing of flights, adventure, and parties, fully enjoying the season with an untouchable confidence.

“Hillside Boys” by Kim Petras

Set against city lights and fast-paced nights, “Hillside Boys” occupies the high-energy atmosphere of late-night drives and pre-party gatherings. Released during Kim Petras’ late-2010s independent single run, the song sits in the synth-pop and dance-pop lane built on glossy electronic production, pulsing beats, and layered vocal processing.

Following a tight, hook-driven pop format designed for replay-heavy listening, this track fully embraces a dancefloor-ready energy. The song’s references to short-lived encounters with affluent “boys in the hills” mirror the transient nature of summer nightlife: bright, fast-paced moments defined more by spontaneity and movement than permanence or emotional attachment.

“SUMMER” by BROCKHAMPTON

As summer days start to slow and soften, BROCKHAMPTON’s “SUMMER” departs from the band’s usual high-energy hip-hop cuts in favor of a more subdued and reflective atmosphere. Led by vocalist and producer Bearface, this neo-soul classic features a keyboard and guitar-driven production with gently layered harmonies. The song’s warm and atmospheric production emulates the feeling of gazing at the sea’s horizon while sitting on sand illuminated by the skyline’s fading hues.

Released in 2017, the track’s slower tempo and sun-drenched textures evoke the haze of nostalgia in the heat of the summer. The tune’s laid-back atmosphere aligns with late afternoons where everything seems to linger before gradually winding down into an invitation to reminisce on the good times.

“Losing You” by Solange

Heartbreak is an emotion one does not wish to experience during summer, yet many have gotten burned by that one fleeting summer fling that was just too good to be true. That feeling of growing distance and inevitable pining is exemplified in Solange Knowles’s 2012 breakout hit, “Losing You.”

Though the song was not released in the summer months, recent TikTok trends have brought it back into the fore of the season through its splendid mix of dance-pop and electronic music influences courtesy of acclaimed producer Dev Hynes. Combined with Solange’s earnest yet restrained vocals, the song is a fitting soundtrack to the bittersweet summer melancholy of a love not fully realized.

Biglang Liko” by Ron Henley and Pow Chavez

Late-night summer drives call for an upbeat jam that makes you wanna sing along to its chorus on repeat, and “Biglang Liko” does exactly that. This OPM song combines rap verses with a catchy chorus and is the epitome of Pinoy hip-hop and rap fusion.

Since its release in 2012, this Ron Henley and Pow Chavez song about taking off on a journey with a special someone remains stuck in people’s heads rent-free. The song’s high-energy electronic beats can have your chest pumping and your shoulders swaying as the chorus begins to play, inviting you to come along for the ride.

“Burnout” by Sugarfree

Windows down on a long drive cutting through heat and light: that is where “Burnout” by Sugarfree fits into the stretch of summer—a familiar feeling that courses through JP Habac’s I’m Drunk, I Love You (2017), featuring the record’s re-arranged version that lodged its melody permanently into a summer of navigating through relationship crossroads. Released in 2003, the track relies on straightforward melodic rock and unembellished production typical of early-2000s Filipino alternative music. Lyrically, the song dwells on the bittersweet need for separation when love is at its dead end, portraying growth and self-development as necessary despite the inevitable bumps that come with letting go.

The simplicity in its composition makes it an easy listen for summer travel. Steady guitar lines and restrained percussion, carrying the kind of mid-tempo drive that pairs naturally with road trips, golden rays of the setting sun, and long stretches of highways where conversations slowly taper off.

“The Sign” by Ace of Base

Few tracks capture effortless, radio-summer familiarity like “The Sign.” Released internationally in 1993, the Swedish pop group’s breakout hit became a defining Europop track of the decade and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Decades later, the song gained renewed popularity through its inclusion in the film Pitch Perfect (2012), further cementing its place in mainstream pop culture.

Its reggae-influenced production, synthesizer hooks, and steady mid-tempo rhythm make it especially suited for listening in the balmy heat—be it in transit, at the beach, or as background for long, easy afternoons. Ace of Base’s lyrics about realizing that a relationship has ended also fits the reflective clarity often associated with late-summer transitions, when things begin to shift from spontaneity toward resolution.
