Ateneo Gym Rats Rejoice: Top gyms near Ateneo

ATENEO IS swarming with rats, and no, we’re not referring to the four-legged kind. We mean students decked out in athleisure, sporting Anytime Fitness key fobs and eating copious amounts of protein while proudly identifying themselves as “gym rats.”

The gym community within campus is vast and expanding. Up-and-coming organizations like the Association of Lifters and Bodybuilders (ALAB) and the Fitness Improvement Team (FIT) are populated with fitness enthusiasts of every kind. These Ateneans don’t just pump iron, though, as they also promote inclusivity and cultivate a community focused on self-improvement. So, if you want to begin your health journey or simply become a part of the local gym community, here’s a list of the most popular gyms near campus!

Moro Lorenzo Sports Center

Per-session rates are Php 360, while monthly rates range from Php 2,064 to Php 2,364. They also offer discounted rates for Ateneans, with Php 2,064 per month for students/employees and Php 2,220 for alumni. The annual fee is Php 14,500 with no discount. Open during weekdays from  6 AM to 6 PM, Moro Lorenzo Sports Center is perfect if you’re looking for a gym without the hassle of leaving campus!

If you’re looking for a quick workout session, a boost in your step count, and a bang for your buck, Integrated Lifestyle and Wellbeing Center Gym (ILAW) is the gym for you! It is situated on the rooftop of the Paz Adriano Building of Miriam College, so you’ll need to climb some stairs to get there. Don’t worry, though, because you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view to enjoy!

Similar to Moro, ILAW offers a range of equipment, including resistance machines, free weights, and cardiovascular machines. The gym focuses on not only lifting weights but exploring various approaches to overall physical wellness. They offer sound baths, massages, psychosocial services, as well as yoga and Zumba classes alongside personal training.

Anytime Fitness Vista and UP Town Center

Anytime Fitness Vista

If you prefer a 24-hour gym and want access to Anytime Fitness (AF) gyms worldwide, these two branches fit right into your busy schedule!

Anytime Fitness Vista is located on the ground floor of Vista Residences, 309 Katipunan Avenue. If you’re looking for a gym closer to campus with a larger Atenean community, Vista is the place for you. Meanwhile, Anytime Fitness UP Town Center (UPTC) is open to the general public and is larger compared to the Vista branch.

Anytime Fitness UP Town Center (UPTC)

Both provide the same amenities as in any other Anytime Fitness branch with cardio and strength training equipment. They both offer various group classes, such as high-intensity workouts from dance to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes to lower-intensity ones like yoga and Tai Chi classes.

Monthly memberships typically cost between Php 2,500 and Php 3,250, not including the one-time needed purchase of the key fob. This purple key is so that you can enter any Anytime Fitness gym at any time. It typically costs around Php 2,650; however, all gym fees depend on the plan, branch, and any current promotions. So, may it be an early morning pump or a late night lift, Anytime Fitness is perfect for the early birds and night owls!

For more information, contact AF Vista at manager.vistakatipunanave@anytimefitness.ph or (+63) 968-0306-5136, and AF UPTC at uptown@anytimefitness.ph or (+63) 917-170-6443.

Kinetix Lab UP Town Center

For all Atenean strength athletes, from powerlifters to Olympic weightlifters, Kinetix Lab in UPTC is the place to go. This gym offers Olympic bumper plates, calibrated weight plates, specialized machines and barbells, weight-bearing platforms, and more. For fitness enthusiasts seeking top-tier equipment and specialized goals, Kinetix Lab won’t disappoint!
