Everyone has that one friend who manages to twist every statement into hugot; Rey is that friend. A veteran from last year’s hosting crew, Rey cites his previous experience as a big help this year—allowing him to understand which types of acts would fit which segments of the show. A self-proclaimed “super sawi-nior”, Rey’s preferred style of humor is centered on wordplay and sawi. “Parang my cap (Like my cap),” he demonstrates, gesturing to his Los Angeles Clippers hat, “Never ko naman na-capture ‘yong puso niya (I never did capture her heart).’” He’s also a probinsyano, and he mentions it made it harder for him to adjust to Ateneo culture as a freshman as a result. “But then,” he goes on, “it was fun, because OrSem was basically one of the best days here in college life.” He understands, then, that the transition into college life can be difficult for some, but his advice for the freshmen is simple. “Tiwala lang (Keep the faith),” he muses, “Kaya nga ‘Lundag’ eh (That’s why it’s called ‘Lundag’).”
