Malcolm & Marie (2021)
Release: February 5
Malcolm & Marie’s steamy and enthralling trailer sold the film for me. As if Zendaya and John David Washington both starring in a film weren’t enough, the trailer teased with its style, obscurity, and intensity.
The premise seems simple enough: A couple comes home after a movie premiere and go on to discuss their past relationships. That, admittedly, is not a lot to hold on to, but all the hype online suggests that the film does pack a hefty punch.
While there’s no guarantee that the film will be amazing, there’s no way I’m missing out on this. Maybe I’m still riding the highs from Euphoria and Tenet. In any case, you can definitely count me in. -Arnald

The Business of Fashion Podcast
Weekly releases, available on Spotify
Fashion doesn’t exist in a vacuum—real people, cultures, and events are behind it. The world of fashion is interesting and multi-faceted, and I doubt there’ll come a time I’ll know everything about it. Still, I’m hungry for knowledge about the industry.
Every week, I tune in to the Business of Fashion Podcast, and I listen to a professional speak about their experiences and insights. Covering the most unique perspectives—from an emergency room nurse-turned-brand owner to an African American editor-in-chief championing diversity—I always find myself knowing more. If you’re interested in any area of fashion—whether it’s design, marketing, or photography, you’re sure to learn something from these too. -Dani

I’ve always thought that I was a tea person, but a glass of El Union Horchata mixed with cold brew coffee from Type A is making me think twice about that. I first tried this version of a dirty horchata back in December, and I haven’t gotten it out of my head ever since. The creamy and sweet drink pairs well with the chocolatey notes of the coffee—perfect for people who need a pick-me-up that’s not too crazy in the morning.
So, if you’re thinking of trying it out yourself, here’s a tip: The El Union Horchata bundles sell out really fast, and it’s best to know when the next drop exactly is and prepare accordingly. This February, I’m hoping to snag a bottle before supplies last. -Pat

Release: February 8
There are only so many words I can use to describe how momentous Super Bowl LV is for the history of American football. I mean come on, it’s Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes: The current G.O.A.T. against the G.O.A.T. to be. If Brady wins, it cements his place at the top of football royalty. If Mahomes wins, it would signify a changing of the guard, ushering in the new era of football.
If the paragraph above did not make sense to you, Super Bowl LV will still have its world famous half-time show, which this year will feature The Weeknd. Moreover, the stricter health guidelines will likely make this the oddest half-time show ever broadcasted.
Still not sold? Well, you still got the Super Bowl commercials (which are usually pretty cool). My point being, whether you’re a football fan or not, Super Bowl LV is an event you simply cannot miss. -Arnald

Weekly releases from December 2020 until March 2021, available on Netflix
Attack on Titan is already on its final season, but I’m actually relatively new to the show. I started the first season last month and binged it in a week. That’s just how captivating it is: The writing, graphics, and music all create a thrilling experience that you just can’t stop watching.
I can’t say too much about the show without giving you spoilers. Basically, it’s set in a place where walls protect humanity from gigantic titans. Upon first hearing this, I know that sounds a bit off, but trust me. After the first episode, you’ll want to hear more about the story of this strange and walled world. -Dani

Static Electricity Dreams of Longevity by Carousel Casualties
No one knows exactly what genre Carousel Casualties’ music fits into, but all I know is it sounds good when I’m dancing to it even by myself. Years after the 2017 EP that got me hooked on the band, it seems that there’s a full-length album to expect from them soon.
From the singles so far, it’s safe to say that Static Electricity Dreams of Longevity brings in the same carefree vibes we know and love—but with more polish in production. The quintet clearly knows their strengths, and they double down on their sound intracks like “Waves” and “What’s on your mind?” that feature their distinctly funky bass and guitar solos.
As they continue teasing their debut album, I’ll be here in my room again, playing the Static singles—already looking forward to its full release. -Pat
