Emily in Paris (2020)
Release: October 2
When it comes to lighthearted media, I definitely have a bias for romantic-comedies. This October, actress Lily Collins produces and stars in Emily in Paris (2020) as the titular protagonist. Described as an “ambitious 20-something marketing executive from Chicago,” Emily tries to navigate her way through the newfound and not-always-glamorous Parisian lifestyle. If your guilty pleasures are diva-driven stories from the early 2000s, such as Gossip Girl (2007-2012) and/or The Devil Wears Prada (2006), then this Netflix series might just be for you. -Ann

Labyrinth (EP) by crwn and August Wahh (2019)
None of us are strangers to cabin fever because of the long months in quarantine. While I do find myself succumbing to the general glum mood from time to time, listening to the Labyrinth EP (2019) reminded me to go with the flow instead. This collaboration seems like a match made in heaven, as August Wahh’s carefree lyrics jive seamlessly with the dreamy, samba-like sounds of crwn. Although the EP may seem upbeat in tone, August shared that this album is actually about trying to shake off a depressive slump. “It’s a journey,” August says, explaining the album name. “When you’re in a funk and you don’t know how to get out of it, it’s a labyrinth. [If you] don’t know where you’re gonna go…you just gotta trust yourself, right?” If you’re looking for more local music recommendations along the lanes of R&B and experimental, then give this EP a shot. -Ann

Release: October 23
I’m a sucker for feel-good family-friendly animated films. In the past few months of quarantining, Netflix’s amazing selection has been my go-to pick-me-up, away from the stresses of the real world. Netflix’s upcoming film Over The Moon, seems to drop at the best time possible—right before finals week. What better way to escape and chill-out than to root for an adorable Fei Fei as she tries to build a rocket ship in search of a mystical moon goddess? With Filipino-Chinese actress Cathy Ang and Hamilton star Philippa Soo lending their voices, coupled with some breathtaking visuals, Over The Moon is primed to be one of the most exciting Netflix releases this month. -Justin

The Mandalorian Season 2 (2020)
Release: October 30
Say what you will about the latest trilogy, but if there’s one good thing about Disney’s acquisition of Star Wars, it’s that there’s more Star Wars content for all of us. The Mandalorian has got to be the best thing to come out of the Disney-era Star Wars universe. After a spectacular debut season filled with classic sci-fi and fantasy that made the original trilogy so loveable, The Mandalorian leaves us craving for more adventures with Mando and the adorable quirkiness of Baby Yoda. If season two is even half as good as the first season, it would make a subscription to Disney+ be worth it (even if it’s just for this alone). – Justin
