Over the past months of social distancing, I’ve constantly been on the lookout for the next best K-drama to binge. Hopefully, I find that in Record of Youth, which follows the lives of a promising trio as they try to reach their wildest dreams in the cutthroat world of showbiz and fashion. They hope to discover themselves, and possibly even find romance, in between the hustle and bustle of building their own careers. One thing is for sure: One way or another, almost every K-drama so far has tugged on my heartstrings; I’m looking forward to seeing if this drama can do the same. -Bea
IN生 – Stray Kids
Release: September 14
I’ve followed Korean boy band Stray Kids since they debuted in 2017. Over the past three years, they’ve delivered one soulful hip-hop beat slash electronica tune after another—and they don’t seem to be stopping any time soon. If anything, their anticipated September release IN生 shows promise of a strong comeback. Banking on their signature downtempo vibe and exquisite aesthetic appeal, Stray Kids is definitely back and ready to make a name for themselves in the K-Pop industry. – Mikaela

First, a confession: I’m not a fan of thriller or dark crime dramas, but I do know that I am a sucker for seeing recognizable faces on the big screen. Enter The Devil All the Time, featuring a stellar cast including the likes of Spider-Man star Tom Holland, It’s Pennywise Bill Skarsgård, and Tenet actor Robert Pattinson, among others. Inspired by Donald Ray Pollock’s novel of the same name, The Devil All the Time just screams suspense, particularly with the movie’s tagline of “Some people are just born to be buried.” (If that doesn’t sound creepy, then I don’t know what is.) Here’s to hoping that this film actually promises to deliver cinema at its finest hour—and doesn’t get buried under the weight of its star-studded cast! -Bea

Harry Bradbeer’s Enola Holmes is more than just another deconstruction of classic stories. The movie follows Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister Enola as she becomes a super-sleuth in her own right, searching for their missing mother. Personally, I think it’s about time. As a child, I’ve grown up clinging to Nancy Drew as one of the few female detectives to look up to; now, generations of little girls get to have Enola. With its star-studded cast and roster of familiar characters, Enola Holmes is bound to be a reimagining worth looking out for. – Mikaela
